Swedish
The Scots will have to endure some competition from abroad from now on! The Great Highland Bagpipe has been played in Sweden for almost 50 years and pipe bands have been around since 1968 (read more under history). But there is also a traditional Swedish bagpipe, a quiet one-drone model with single reeds; it blends fine with the fiddles and key-harps of Swedish folk music. You can find out more about Swedish bagpipes via our links page.

Bagpipes
Most of the pipers in the band play old instruments from the first half of the 1900s. Henderson and Robertson are popular makes. We play plastic R.T. Shepherd chanters and synthetic drone reeds. Most pipers use Bannatyne hybrid pipe bags.

Drums
We play red Premier HTS 700 sides and Premier tenor and bass drums. Our favourite bass drum fell out of the bus luggage compartment on a Christmas tour of Sicily, never to be seen again, so we now have to contend with a new one, not yet of the same rich sound. The old one is probably a trophy in some local Sicilian bar.
